Meet Sylvia Mulinge, MTN Uganda’s new & first female CEO

LADY OF THE WEEK:  Sylvia Mulinge, MTN Uganda’s first female CEO who began her term in office this month Ms Sylvia Wairimu Mulinge is the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of MTN Uganda, replacing Mr Wim Vanhelleputte who has been promoted to a regional role as operating executive for the WECA Markets of Liberia, Guinea-Conakry, Guinea-Bissau, and Congo-Brazzaville within the MTN Group. Sylvia has been the Chief Consumer Business Officer at telecom giant Safaricom Plc Kenya. Mr. Charles Mbiire the Chairman of the Board of Directors MTN Uganda, said: “I would like to welcome Sylvia Mulinge to MTN Uganda. PROMOTING A SAVINGS CULTURE: MTN’s active Mobile Money customers to be paid UGX 5.7 billion in interest

By Ruth Kiconco With effect from September 2022, MTN’s Mobile Money customers have begun reaping the financial benefits following the separation of the MoMo section from the telecommunication wing of the business.   As a result, MTN Mobile Money is now paying its loyal customers an astounding UGX 5.7 billion interest pay-out for the second quarter of the year which ended on 30 th June 2022. MTN Mobile Money Uganda Limited was separated from its parent company, MTN Uganda, in May of 2021 (last year) pursuant to the National Payment Systems (NPS) Act, 2020.
