Unveiling NTV's Priscilla Regina Nalwoga Uganda's rising media talent

Regina Priscilla Nalwoga is a media personality whose stardom is evidently on an upward trend on Uganda's Television airwaves. She is a News Anchor on NTV Uganda where she hosts a daily news show "NTV AT ONE" during the prime-time Lunch hour from 1:00 PM every weekday in the afternoon (Mondays to Fridays). She joined the Nation Media Group (NMG) after she had gained her on-screen reputation from UBC TV. Priscilla also hosts #MorningAtNTV Her Television career began recently when she made her first appearance in September of 2020 on the National broadcaster Uganda broadcasting Corporation (UBC). She was at Uganda's oldest TV station for one year and four months before she joined her present job at NTV Uganda. NSSF declares 9.65% interest rate for savers at 10th Annual Members Meeting

  Uganda’s retirement savings organization, the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has declared an interest rate of 9.65% for its members for the year ended 30th June 2022. This year’s interest rate is slightly lower than what NSSF declared for the previous financial year in FY 2020/2021 which stood at 12.15%.   The new interest rate was declared today on Tuesday, 27 th September 2022 by Hon Henry Musasizi, the Minister of State for Finance (General Duties) during NSSF’s 10 th Annual members Meeting that was held in Kampala. Richard Byarugaba the Fund’s Managing Director explained the reasons for this year’s low interest rate. “The effects of the global geo-politics affected regional markets, our economy and the Fund. Our growth was slower on contributions, compliance rates dropped, real estate products became more expensive, and our equity portfolio was affected, however, we remained resilient,” he said. Mr. Byarugaba however insisted that the Fund remains sustainable.

7 DAYS TO SHUT DOWN: UBC TV to be switched off over huge debts of UGX 3.7 billion in arrears, 30+ channels to be affected

  The Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC)’s satellite service provider has given the national broadcaster only seven days until September 30 to pay $988,225 (UGX 3.7b) arrears or risk being switched off.  If this switch off is implemented, it will affect more than 30 television channels and the free-to-air decoders that rely on UBC’s infrastructure to transmit their televised services. Daily Monitor reports that according to the satellite service provider, Intelsat, UBC’s arrears have accumulated for more than a year now. “We certainly would like to avoid such measures and would regret having to take actions that may result in termination of your services. We would also like you to consider opening a dialogue with us to consider governmental needs regarding connectivity requirements in Uganda,” reads an excerpt from a letter penned on 6th September 2022.   Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has said that the customary (polygamous) marriage between Speaker of Parliament Anita Among and FUFA president Moses Magogo is legal and cannot be invalidated. A Thursday, 22nd September 2022 statement signed by Mr Ronald Jackson Lutunda on behalf of the Registrar of Marriages, URSB says a town clerk cannot invalidate a marriage as has been circulating in the media. “The public is put on notice to ignore the misleading circulating stories about the validity of the said marriage,” the statement reads in part. “The role of the Town Clerk in customary marriage registration is to register and transmit a return to the Registrar of Marriages at Uganda Registration Services Bureau. Neither, the Town clerk nor Registrar of Marriages have the authority to invalidate a marriage,” the statement adds. The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has relocated its head offices from George Street, Georgian House to its new permanent home at the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre. The newly completed UBFC facility is located on Plot 1, Baskerville Avenue Kololo opposite City High School. The impressive building that URSB has shifted to.  By Atuhaire Bridget   With effect from next month, on the 1 St day of October 2022, the Government of Uganda will start earning Value Added Tax (VAT) from non-resident electronic service providers, including on social media like tech giant - Facebook. “As of October 2022, Facebook ads in Uganda will be subject to a value-added tax (VAT) at the applicable local tax rate,” said Meta, Facebook’s parent company over the weekend. “This applies to advertisers whose “Sold to” the country (Uganda) on their business or personal address is set to Uganda and who haven’t added their tax identification number (TIN) to their Facebook ad account,” the tech company stated.
